Großbüchel quarry

The Großbüchel quarry monument extends west of the Großbüchel farm. The quarry belongs to the Büchel district in the Herrenstrunden district of Bergisch Gladbach in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

description

It is a disused quarry that has been cut deep into the site. The interior is covered with spoil heaps from the active period and lush vegetation. On the north side, a demolition edge is largely free of vegetation. Here there are karst formations with fissures more than 10 cm wide . In the southwestern part, corals and stromatopores can be detected, some of which have been excellently prepared by weathering.

The area is entered under No. 9 in the list of archaeological monuments in Bergisch Gladbach .
