concept

Is the title of the album one of the English word bodyguard (Engl. Bodyguards ) ajar word composition consisting of the Sanskrit -word Bodhi (for Awakening / Enlightenment ) and guard (Engl. Guardian is). Accordingly, the Bodhiguard and thus his album is “the protector of enlightenment and does not protect on a material physical level, but on a spiritual one. The Bodhiguard is the one who protects awakening, realness and light from the dark side of power in the rap world; who makes sure that these things are not lost in rap, ”he told the Juice .

The trigger for this concept was the death of Whitney Houston , on the occasion of which ZDF broadcast the film Bodyguard . Therefore, a corresponding number of samples from the film were used on the album.

production

The album was produced by the Snowgoons in collaboration with DJ sR von Fünf8cht and DJ Eule. The Snowgoons sent finished beats to Absztrakkt and he wrote the appropriate lyrics and then capped the instrumentals. DJ sR was particularly active as a mixer, while DJ Eule mainly helped the artist with ideas.

“I use everything that is there. I want to create pictures and take people with me to my planet. Sometimes I just want to write a good sentence. Sometimes write battle-heavy stuff . It always depends on what the beat does to me. The cooperation with the Goons was consistently a harmonious thing. "

- Abstract

The production work on the album took a total of almost two years.

criticism

Daniel Schieferdecker wrote in the Juice that “the lyrics [...] are within the tried and tested spectrum of Far Eastern philosophy , esotericism and one's own wealth of experience”. Influences of system criticism, battle rap and eroticism can also be heard. Absztrakkt's delivery is excellent and far superior to many other musicians. The speech samples from the film Bodyguard would have a somewhat "cheesy" sound at first, but would otherwise work well. Schieferdecker awarded four out of six crowns for the album.

The Popshot.Over blog said: “Although the whole thing refers to the film 'Bodyguard' again and again through various skits, it is mixed with, among other things, American hip-hop samples, Far Eastern influences and varied topics to form an independent blend. "
