Bodo Heimeshoff

Bodo Heimeshoff (born March 8, 1926 in Hanover ; † March 23, 2020 ) was a German civil engineer.

Life

Bodo Heimeshoff studied civil engineering at the Nienburg State Building School after attending school, labor service, military service, prisoner of war and bricklayer apprenticeship. After working as a structural engineer, he studied civil engineering at the TH Hannover. From 1959 to 1970 he was a scientific assistant and senior engineer at the chair for structural engineering and timber construction at the TU Hannover , where he received his doctorate in 1966 and his habilitation in 1969.

From 1970 until his retirement in 1991 he held the chair for timber construction and building construction at the Technical University of Munich . Heimeshoff was also involved as an appraiser, test engineer and head of many committees. He was chairman of the standards committees DIN 1052 timber structures and DIN 1074 timber bridges and chairman of the expert committee timber construction and wood-based materials of the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt). He was considered an expert in timber construction in Germany.
