from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bodo Pareigis (born May 9, 1937 in Hanover ) is a German mathematician.

Pareigis received his doctorate in 1963 at the University of Heidelberg under Friedrich Kasch ( On normal, central, separable algebras and Amitsur cohomology ), the dissertation was carried out under Alex Rosenberg at Cornell University , and completed his habilitation in 1967 at the University of Munich, where he completed his career in 1968 scientific advice became. In 1968/69 and 1971/72 he was visiting professor in the USA. In 1973 he became a full professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he retired in 2004.

1981 to 1990 he was co-editor of Communications in Algebra, 1993 to 2008 of the New York Journal of Mathematics and 1988 to 2006 of Publications Mathématiques. From 1973 to 1996 he co-edited the algebra reports of the Mathematical Institute of the University of Munich.

An early German textbook on category theory comes from him . He dealt with different aspects of algebra (apart from category theory also quantum groups , Hopf algebras and non-commutative geometry ), computer graphics and finite (sequential) dynamic systems with methods of discrete mathematics.
