history
From 1536 to 1905 Wilkendorf belonged to the traditional Brandenburg noble family von Pfuel (Pfuel to Wilkendorf line). Wilkendorf was a rural community until 1903 , after which it was transformed into an estate district . On September 30, 1928, the Wilkendorf estate was dissolved again and the village became a residential area for the community of Gielsdorf . Since December 31, 2002, Wilkendorf has belonged to the town of Altlandsberg.
Village church
The church, a late Gothic field stone building with a semicircular east end and a recessed rectangular west tower with a hipped roof, was built around 1250. The granite font, approx. 1150 (from the previous building) is one of the oldest in Brandenburg. An original window in the rainbow colors of the von Pfuel family's former owners has been preserved; a late Gothic bell; the patronage stalls with the coat of arms of those of Pfuel and Reventlow . The Gutsfriedhof with grave sites for those of Pfuel is on the site by the church.
Attractions
Gustav Felix Bertram von Pfuel had Wilkendorf Castle built from 1852–1855 . Theodor Fontane developed the idea for his novel Effi Briest at Wilkendorf Castle .
