Heidekrug is a residential area in the municipality of Prötzel in the Märkisch-Oderland district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is nine kilometers west of Prötzel. Neighboring towns are Biesow and Försterei Lattbusch in the northeast, Stadtstelle in the east, Wilkendorf in the southeast, Gielsdorf in the south, Eichenbrandt and Hirschfelde in the southwest, Werneuchen-Ost in the west and Werftpfuhl and Tiefensee in the northwest.

history

The place used to be called Blumenthalscher Krug. The barracks that still exist here today were used as a training object by the security unit of the Blumberg office of the Minister of the Interior of the GDR (MdI) and, in the state of defense, were to serve as a contact point for the district authorities of the German People's Police (BDVP).

In Heidekrug, the German Weather Service operates one of 17 weather radars in its radar network on a 51 m high concrete tower erected at the beginning of the 2010s .
