Bogdan Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz (born March 21, 1966 in Wodzisław Śląski ) is a former Polish politician of the Platforma Obywatelska (PO) and was a member of the European Parliament ( MEP ) in the 7th electoral term from 2009 to 2014 .

Marcinkiewicz studied electrical engineering at the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow and completed postgraduate studies at the Silesian Technical University in Gliwice . Marcinkiewicz is professionally connected to the mining and gas industries; He first worked as an electrician in the May 1st hard coal mine in Wodzisław Śląski, later switched to Polskie Górnictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo and managed a company that provided installation services for the gas industry.

In the 2009 European elections , he ran in constituency no. 11 on position 9 for the Platforma Obywatelska and was surprisingly able to win a mandate for the European Parliament as an unknown political newcomer. In the 2014 European elections , he ran for re-election in the same constituency on list position 7 of the Platforma Obywatelska, but missed the re-entry into the EU Parliament. Since then, he has not stood in any election in Poland for public office.
