history

As a family company, Boge is in the hands of the fourth generation of the family. The managing directors are Wolf D. Meier-Scheuven, a great-grandson of the company's founder Otto Boge, Olaf Hoppe and Rolf Struppek. The foundation stone for today's Boge company was laid in 1907 by Otto Boge with the sale of door closers. In 1919 he developed and manufactured special tools for vehicle repairs. In the 1920s, Boge also started producing bicycles and a little later motorcycle production. At that time, car workshops were already in need of compressors to repair the frequent flat tires. Boge discovered this rapidly growing market in the 1920s and thus laid the foundation for the company's further development.

Otto Boge brought the first piston compressor onto the market in 1925. After the Second World War, in which the company was forcibly active in arms production, Boge discovered the industrial business. Boge manufactured compressors that reliably generated compressed air around the clock . The product range expanded continuously, as did the production capacities.

The milestones in the company's development include the introduction of screw compressor technology in 1973, the introduction of oil-free screw compressors in 1997 and the introduction of screw compressors for completely oil-free compressed air in 2011. Today, Boge produces compressor stages for screw compressors in Grossenhain, Saxony. Since 2013, Boge products have also included special gas generators for the production of nitrogen and oxygen.
