Corporate development
history
The establishment of the company on December 10, 1923 in the then still independent Solingen district of Ohligs goes back to master locksmith Josef Bohle , who initially produced cutting wheels for processing glass in his workshop. Buyers were in particular pocket knife manufacturers. Since then, the company has continued to develop. In addition to the expansion of the production facilities in 1930, the mid-1950s and 1970, the headquarters are also relocated to Haan 18 years later .
August Bohle joined his father's company in 1925 and, in 1933, for the first time accompanied the manufacture of complex glass cutters under the IBOR and IBOR-Extra brands, an abbreviation for Josef Bohle Ohligs Rheinland. The cutting wheels are now made of hard metal. Each glass cutter has six wheels that are mounted on a rotating rosette. Three years later, the first SILBERSCHNITT trademark was registered, which today has achieved a worldwide reputation. The VERIBOR® brand, under which the company has been developing suction lifters for transporting and handling glass panes and other gas-tight materials since the mid-1950s , is also well known.
Bohle AG has been developing and producing glass processing machines since 1990 - initially at the Torgau site and since 2009 at the Haan headquarters . These include process water treatment systems, grinding and drilling machines, and lifting systems.
Since 2010 Bohle AG has been focusing on its range of fittings, which is characterized by in-house developments and is constantly growing. These include the VetroMount glass railing system and the MasterTrack sliding door system.
The Bohle company, which is still family-run, now serves international customers from the construction, craft , retail and industrial sectors.
The company is a training company.

Products & brands
Glass fittings
The range includes fittings for interior and exterior construction and is divided into the core areas of railing systems, door systems, partition walls, showcases, furniture, canopies as well as bathrooms and sanitary facilities. The entire product area of glass fittings is growing in particular with in-house developments in the categories of railing and sliding door systems as well as shower door fittings. Bohle has more than 20 shower door fitting series including accessories in its range. In addition, the partition wall systems from Bohle are available in complete sets as well as individual and custom-made products. The technical support as well as product experts provide support with the respective assembly situation or large construction projects.
Industrial flat glass cutting technology
The support of industrial customers relates to the area of glass cutting. Bohle researches, develops and produces cutting wheels made of hard metal , PCD (polycrystalline diamond) and with coated and micro-structured surfaces for a wide variety of applications. A team of experts is out and about around the world to advise customers on site and develop individual solutions. In addition to cutting wheels, there are wheel carriers, axes, process chemicals and measuring devices that characterize the industrial portfolio.
Handling technology
The product range includes suction cups, fixing and carrying aids, most of which have been known under the brand name Veribor® since 1950. Veribor® products are developed exclusively in Germany - with special attention to safety. The rubber washer plays a special role in this regard, as it has a decisive influence on the suction properties due to its material composition, size and elasticity. The range of suction cups differs depending on the surface material and shape as well as the load of the counterpart to be carried. In addition to the glass trade, customers are therefore also carpenters, metal workers, interior designers and, above all, the automotive industry.
Glass bonding
With 25 years of experience in glass bonding, Bohle offers an extensive range that covers the entire bonding process: from cleaning and fixing to adhesives and curing items.
machinery
Bohle develops and produces glass processing machines. These include process water treatment systems (Sedimentor), grinding and drilling machines and small hand tools. The specially developed Liftmaster series stands for vacuum lifting systems that suck in gas-tight loads, primarily glass, of up to 180 kg and thus make them transportable and mountable.
Workshop supplies
From glazing accessories and work safety materials to mirror mountings, the extensive range includes all aids that are required for working in the workshop. In addition, the area of surface protection agents from the BriteGuard® brand, whose products are developed in our own laboratory, as well as the oldest product area of manual glass cutters.
Research and Development
The Bohle culture is shaped by the entrepreneurial spirit of the founder Josef Bohle , who began to develop glass cutting wheels himself in his small workshop. Even today, extensive research and development activities take place in the Haaner production facility, for which the company holds numerous patents. In the hardware sector, the patent for the glass fastening of the VetroMount fall protection system, which is reminiscent of the simple cable tie principle, is of great importance. Thanks to this principle, glass panes can be attached to a floor profile by just one person in a few simple steps.
social commitment
Bohle supports various social projects, including schools, training centers and sports clubs near the German site in Haan. For example the student project “BohleBots”, a working group of the Haaner high school, where children and young people learn programming in connection with robotics. The high school team was European champion in Robocup soccer 2vs2 lightweight in 2018, West German and German champion in 2019 and vice world champion in 2019 in Robocup soccer 2vs2 lightweight. Bohle is the official sponsor for Euroskills2020 , the European championship of professions.
The SOS Children's Village project in Ennerdale ( South Africa ) has also been supported by the company since 2019, both financially and in the form of internships and seminars for young people.
