Bolesław Lewandowski (composer)

Bolesław Lewandowski (born August 19, 1912 in Charkow , † May 10, 1981 in Warsaw ) was a Polish conductor and composer.

Lewandowski received a diploma in composition (1935) and conducting (1937) at the Warsaw Conservatory . Until the outbreak of the Second World War he was a conductor at the Warsaw Opera. After 1945 he was conductor at the Teatr Marynarki Wojennej in Gdynia (1945–48), at the Posen Opera (1951–53), the Silesian Opera Bytom (1951–54), the Warsaw Opera (1954–57), the Wroclaw Opera ( 1957–59) and at the Bydgoszcz Opera and Operetta House. At the Opera Objazdowa he worked between 1960 and 1970 as a conductor and at times as artistic and musical director. From 1970 he was the conductor of the Opera Studio at Teatr Wielki in Warsaw.
