Bolsternang is a district of Großholzleute and thus belongs to Isny im Allgäu , district of Ravensburg . It is located about eight kilometers south-east of Isny at the foot of the Adelegg with the Black Ridge . The place has about 500 inhabitants.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1169 when the priest Wernher donated the Bolsternang estate to the Isny monastery. In 1690 a separate pastor's office was set up in Bolsternang after the pastor from Mengen had previously held services there. In 1769 a rectory was built in the village. There was also a parish school with a teacher. In 1850 137 people lived in Bolsternang. The place belonged to the deanery Wangen in the Danube district . At that time the patron was the Prince of Waldburg-Zeil -Trauchburg.
Architectural monuments
The Catholic parish church of St. Martin is entered with a wall in the monument book of Baden-Württemberg. It was built around 1500; further structural changes took place in the 19th century and in 1947/48. The parsonage with a gable roof, built in 1769 and modified in the 19th century, is also one of the architectural monuments of Bolsternang. Also under monument protection is a single house at Osterösch 1, which was built around 1800.
economy
A local employer is the Rehabilitation Clinic Überruh, which was opened in 1908 as a sanatorium for women suffering from tuberculosis . In the center of the village there is also the Gasthof Zum schwarzen Grat , a village shop reopened in 2013 , a gift shop and a stone-all-sorts shop.
