Boltzmann Medal
The Boltzmann Medal ( English Boltzmann Medal ) is an award from the International Union for Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) for outstanding achievements in statistical physics . It is awarded every three years at the Statphys conference of the IUPAP and is named after Ludwig Boltzmann , whose portrait bears the medal. It is considered one of the highest honors in statistical physics - the founding fathers of which are Boltzmann and Maxwell - and is only awarded to physicists who have not yet received the Nobel Prize.
