Carl Weishaupt

Carl Romanus Weishaupt (born August 11, 1787 in Regensburg , † December 18, 1853 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lieutenant general and minister of war .

Life

Carl was a son of the Saxon-Gothic court advisor Adam Weishaupt . He joined the Bavarian Army as a second lieutenant on May 23, 1804 and served in the 2nd Infantry Regiment from July 1805 during the Napoleonic Wars . In April 1848, Weishaupt was appointed major general war minister. However, he only stayed in this office for a short time, from April 5 to November 21, and was replaced in the same year by Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Le Suire . Weishaupt then served as an artillery brigadier until his death and was promoted to lieutenant general one day before his death by King Maximilian II .

He liked to hike and published articles on researching the Roman roads in Bavaria.
