The Bolzenstein is a rock needle in the northern Franconian Jura , in the Pegnitz Valley in Bavaria .
Information and data
The needle itself has an average height of 12 meters from the ground and 15 meters at the highest point.
The name "Bolzenstein" can be traced back to the first ascent in 1905. At that time the "Nürnberger Rifflerbuben" shot a bolt with a rope at the needle with a crossbow in order to pull themselves up on it.
