The Boomi River is an arm of the river in the north of the Australian state of New South Wales .

It connects the Macintyre River with the Barwon River , both headwaters and tributaries of the Darling River .

The Boomi River arises in the floodplain of the Macintyre River on the Queensland border north of the Boomi settlement . Then it flows southeast of the Macintyre River, roughly parallel to this, to the southwest and meets after 231 kilometers about 10 kilometers east of Gundablouie on the Barwon River.

To the north of Mungindi , the Gnoura Gnoura Creek already connects the Boomi River with the Barwon River. The main tributary of the Boomi River is the Whalan Creek , which arises from several streams in northern New South Wales, south of Goondiwindi .
