The Boppard line or Korf-Korb line is an isogloss in the Rhenish fan within the continental West Germanic dialect continuum . It runs between the Benrath Line and the Speyer Line in an east-west direction. It crosses the Rhine near the town of Boppard and separates the Central German-speaking area into a northern area in which the Central German word Korf or Korv predominates in the dialects , while the High German word Korb is spoken south of the line .

Together with the St. Goarer line , which runs a little further south, it separates the Moselle-Franconian dialects to the north from the Rhine-Franconian dialects of the West Central German group, which are located to the south , with the St. Goarer line being the more essential dialect divide .
