The Borgward BE3000 , later sold as Lloyd EL3000 , was the electric drive version of the German military truck Borgward B 3000 , a medium-class truck with an empty weight of 3 t, which is designed for goods with a weight of up to 4,450 t.
Since 1906 NAMAG and Borgward have been developing electric vehicles up to 40 hp. In 1950, Borgward moved production from Bremen to its other location in Hastedt , a district of Bremen- Hemelingen , and produced the vehicle as the Lloyd EL3000 . The total number of units produced is unknown, but around 30 vehicles of this type were built each year. The main customer was the British Army of the Rhine .
The batteries gave the truck a range of 70 km and 100 km unloaded. 7.50 × 20 tires were used. In addition to the hydraulic brake, the car had an engine short circuit installed to delay it electrically. The engine was manufactured by Lloyd Dynamowerken Bremen.
Later, the type designation EL3000 was used for an electric mail delivery vehicle that was uniformly produced by various manufacturers.
