Boris Boehmann
Boris Böhmann (born July 19, 1964 in Worms ) is the cathedral music director at the Freiburg Cathedral and director of the Freiburg Cathedral Boys' Choir , the Freiburg Cathedral Chapel, the Freiburg Cathedral Choir and the Choralschola.
Life
The study of Catholic theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz was followed from 1988 to 1993 by studies at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (church music and conducting). Through his initiative, the vocal ensemble at St. Martin Worms was founded in 1990 , and he was its musical director until 2004.
After his artistic A-exam in 1993, he was appointed choir director at the Papal Basilica of St. Marien zu Kevelaer . There he led the various ensembles of basilica music with over 250 participants (children's choirs, youth schola, choir, orchestra, choral schola and wind instruments).
From 2000 to 2001 Boris Böhmann was chairman of the Association of Church Musicians in the Diocese of Münster . Since 1996 he has been a member of the national committee of the German choir association Pueri Cantores and has also been a member of the executive committee there since 1999.
In 2003, he was appointed cathedral music director and director of the cathedral singing school in the Palais , succeeding Raimund Hug, at the Freiburg Cathedral, where he directs the cathedral choir boys , the cathedral choir, the cathedral chapel and the choral school at the Freiburg cathedral. Numerous concerts have taken him through Germany and abroad. With the Freiburger Domsingknaben he went on concert tours of several weeks through Australia (2006), Japan (2010) and South America (2014). Television, radio and CD productions as a choir conductor and organist document his musical work.
Since 2006 he has been teaching children's choir conducting at the Freiburg State University of Music. In 2018, he was awarded an honorary professorship by the Theological Faculty of the Albert Ludwig University .
