Boris Michailowitsch Saizew ( Russian Борис Михайлович Зайцев ; born March 23, 1937 in Moscow ; † February 24, 2000 ibid) was a Soviet - Russian ice hockey goalkeeper .

Career

During his career Boris Saizew played exclusively for Dynamo Moscow and reached the runner-up of the Soviet Union five times with Dynamo (1959, 1960, 1962-1964). In total, he was in goal in 251 games in the Soviet league .

International

On December 28, 1962, he was on the ice for the first time for the Soviet national team in a friendly against the GDR in Dresden . At the ice hockey world championship in 1963 he was world champion with the national team and was used in one game.

His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1964 Winter Olympics , in which he was in goal in two games. On December 4, 1967, he played his last international match, a total of seven internationals for the national team.

After winning the Olympic gold medal in 1964, he was named the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR . After the end of his career he worked as a coach at Dynamo Moscow until 1997.
