Boris Lwowitsch Wassiljew

Boris Lwowitsch Wassiljew ( Russian Борис Львович Васильев ; born May 21, 1924 in Smolensk ; † March 11, 2013 in Moscow ) was a Russian writer .

Life

Shortly before the German attack on the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941, Wassiljew graduated from high school and then served in the Red Army until 1954 . From July 8, 1941 until the end of the war, he was on the front lines. He then wrote plays, novels and short stories. A central theme of many of his works is the Second World War . His published in 1969 and in 1972 filmed the first story The Dawns Here Are Quiet established his literary fame. The story is about five young soldiers who are killed in a fight against a German special unit operating in the hinterland. The story is probably based on a war experience by Vasilyev, during which he found two girls murdered by German soldiers. In 1970 the novel Iwans Kutter and the story The very last day appeared , followed in 1973 by the novel Don't Shoot White Swans . The story, Not included in the lists , published in 1974, deals with the battle for the Brest fortress .
