Borkhausenia Minutella is a butterfly from the family of oecophoridae (Oecophoridae).

features

The wingspan is between 10 and 14 millimeters. The brown forewings have two pale yellow spots in the rear third. The hind wings are brownish-gray.

Occurrence

The species is native to the western Palearctic . It is widespread in Europe. Their occurrence ranges from Fennoscandinavia in the north to the Iberian Peninsula , the Mediterranean region and the Middle East in the south. In Great Britain , the species was considered extinct since the mid-1960s. At the end of the 2010s there were again individual sightings of the species in south-east England. In Central Europe, the population is declining.

Way of life

The caterpillars feed on decaying plant parts and seeds. The caterpillars overwinter. The butterflies can be seen in the months of May and June, especially in residential buildings and stables.
