Bornholms Kunstmuseum is a Danish art museum located at Helligdomsklipperne , 6 kilometers north of Gudhjem on Bornholm . The museum was founded in Rønne in 1893 as part of Bornholms Museum , became independent in 1971 and moved into new buildings in 1993.
The museum has a large collection of Bornholm art from the beginning of the 18th century to the present day, as well as a large collection of handicrafts , ceramics and glass. The collection concentrates on art that is related to Bornholm, with a special focus on the works of Bornholm painters such as Oluf Høst , Olaf Rude , Karl Isakson and Niels Lergård .
The 4000 m² museum building, inaugurated in 1993, was designed by the architecture firm Fogh og Følner ApS , which was also later responsible for the museum's extension, which was inaugurated in 2003. The collection is owned - and maintained by - Bornholms Museumsforening (Bornholmer Museumsverein), the buildings belong to the Bornholms regional municipality . The museum is sponsored by a number of companies; The main sponsor is the Færgen shipping company .
