history

On April 16, 2007, Clipper Group A / S and Bornholmstrafikken A / S founded a joint venture called Nordic Ferry Services. Both partners held a 50% stake in the new company. The indication Nordic in the name of NFS showed the desire to expand the company to other Scandinavian countries. The management of NFS was in the hands of Bornholmstrafikken. The logos, the design and information were based on the Bornholmstrafikken style. In November 2007 the shipping company Clipper Invest bought the companies Sydfynske A / S and Sund & Bælt A / S from Scandlines together with a 30% stake in Molslinjen . In 2008 Clipper Invest was admitted to the NFS, and the subsidiaries were named Alstrafikken, Fanøtrafikken, Langelandstrafikken and Samsøtrafikken.

On October 1st 2010, Bornholmstrafikken, Sydfynske and Nordic Ferry Services were merged to form Danske Færger. Since then, the new company has also been operating under the name Færgen . The reason for the name change was a shift in focus from foreign to domestic business. The subsidiaries have also been renamed in line with the new company name: AlsFærgen, BornholmerFærgen, FanøFærgen, LangelandsFærgen and SamsøFærgen.

In October 2018, the Danish antitrust authority Konbewerbence- og Forbrugerstyrelsen approved the takeover of all the shares in Danke Færger by Molslinjen. Up to now, half of the company's shares have been held by Bornholmstrafikken Holding, which in turn is owned by the Danish state, and the Clipper Group.
