Lolland (formerly Samsø )

The type 185 is a type of ferry from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde , of which two units were delivered in 2012, the Lolland (created in 2011 as Samsø ) and the Langeland . The third ship in this series was not completely completed and was sold to a Greek owner as a shell in 2015.

history

The three double-ended ferries were ordered at the beginning of August 2010 by the Rønne- based shipping company Nordic Ferry Services A / S , from which the shipping company Danske Færger emerged on October 1, 2010. The new buildings (NB) were given construction numbers 1295, 1296 and 1297 at the Sietas shipyard .

Samsø

The model ship of the series is the Samsø , which was to be used from November 2011 between Hou in Jutland and Sælvig on Samsø to replace the Kanhave ferry (IMO 9548562) there. The original owner of Samsø was the shipping company Samsø Linen A / S, which entered into a cooperation with the shipping company Nordic Ferry Services (NFS) in 2008 and wanted to charter the new ferry from the NFS for ten years. The two other Type 185 ferries were provided by NFS for the liner service between Spodsbjerg on Langeland and Tårs on Lolland .

The Samsø floated up on July 30th, 2011 and completed her first test run in October. It was christened on November 4, 2011 at the Norderwerft , which was then part of the Sietas Group , and was due to be delivered shortly afterwards. Danske Færger had made the operation of the new ferry between Hou and Sælvig dependent on the conversion of the ferry terminal there , with the costs being borne by the port company in Hou and the municipality of Samsø. The shipping company was unable to reach an agreement with the municipality of Samsø, so the pier in Sælvig was not adapted to the new ship and the Samsø could therefore not be used on this route. As a result, Danske Færger postponed the acceptance of the ferry. On November 17, 2011, the Sietas shipyard filed for bankruptcy , whereupon the completed Samsø remained as a trailer in Hamburg. In February 2012, Danske Færger decided to take over the ferry as owner and use it instead of the third ship that had been ordered in the liner service between Spodsbjerg and Tårs. It was given the new name Lolland on February 23, 2012 . At the same time, the shipping company, in agreement with the insolvency administrator of Sietas shipyard, canceled the construction contract for the third ferry. The Lolland was delivered on March 5, 2012 and initially transferred to Svendborg . On March 21, the ship arrived in Spodsbjerg, where on March 24 by Bente Dam Kristensen, the wife of the then Transport Minister Henrik Dam Kristensen , in the name of Lolland was baptized. The commissioning took place on April 16, 2012.

Langeland

The second Type 185 ferry floated on April 15, 2012 and completed its first test drive on May 5. The delivery took place on May 24, 2012. The ship was on June 8 in Nakskov on the name Langeland baptized and put on 10 June 2012, the route between Spodsbjerg and Tårs into service where it ever since, together with the Lolland drives.

NB 1297

The superstructure of the third ferry was delivered from Gdansk in October 2011 . After the building contract was canceled on February 12, 2012, the insolvency administrator of the Sietas shipyard decided to combine the existing superstructures and hull sections into a floating shell. This floated up in July 2012 and then remained as part of the bankruptcy estate in Hamburg-Neuenfelde. In July 2015, a Greek owner bought the half-finished ship, which was then named Dami . The shell was transferred to the Greek island of Salamis on August 21, 2015 with the help of the tug Europe (IMO 8518168) , where it arrived on September 11, 2015 and has since fallen in love as a trailer in the port of Ampelakia (as of May 2020).

technology

The type 185 ferries were built in section construction , with their superstructures being prefabricated in Poland and then towed by pontoon to the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg. The ships have a total length of 99.90 m (95.00 m lpp ) and a width of 18.20 m. Its height from the keel to the main deck is 4.25 m. The Samsø was originally registered with a deadweight of 750  dwt and a maximum draft of 3.00 m. The ferries delivered to Denmark were later measured with 949 dwt ( Lolland ) and 972 dwt ( Langeland ) and a maximum draft of 3.25 m. The load capacity of the Dami delivered in 2015 is 800 dwt.

The diesel-electric powered ships each have five Caterpillar -C32 twelve-cylinder diesel engines , which together produce 4,100  kW (5,574  hp ). For safety reasons, the five diesel engines were distributed over two engine rooms, with three in the rear and two in the bow. At the shipyard, the ships have been prepared for alternative operation with LNG as fuel . The ferries have four propeller pods (azi pods) each with two Schottel rudder propellers (STP twin propellers). Your service speed is 16 knots .

The ships are designed for a maximum of 600 passengers, with 150 seats outside of the passenger deck. The main deck has six lanes with a total of 500 lane meters and has stowage capacity for 100 cars. It is divided into two areas by the stairs to the upper decks. Cars and trucks can be stowed in the four lanes on the starboard side , while cars can only be stowed in the two lanes on the port side. Above these two lanes there is an intermediate deck that is drawn in on one side and is known as the mezzanine deck. The mezzanine deck, on which another 22 cars can be stowed, has two lanes of 55 meters each and has lowerable ramps at both ends.
