Robert Mittag (born December 4, 1886 in Wittenberg , † March 28, 1957 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1954 to 1957 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Mittag, son of a butcher, also learned the trade of butcher . He became a master butcher and ran his own butcher's business for decades. In 1948, Mittag joined the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). In 1951 he was elected local group chairman of the CDU von Wittenberg and in 1954 the first district chairman of the CDU district association Wittenberg . For many years he was a member of the city council of Wittenberg.

In October 1954 he was elected to the People's Chamber with the CDU mandate. At noon on October 15, 1954, two days before the election day, the election officer of the republic, Willi Stoph , confirmed as a candidate. He took the place of the candidate Julius Wilhelm Richter from Wittenberg, who had been withdrawn from the National Front .

Robert Mittag died of a heart attack at the age of 70.
