Oswestry was a district with the status of a borough in the county of Shropshire in England . The administrative seat was the city of the same name Oswestry . Almost half of the population lived in the borough in the city of Oswestry. The borough also included the places Trefonen and Ruyton-XI-Towns .
The District was formed on April 1, 1974 and emerged from the former Rural District Oswestry. It was dissolved in the course of a territorial reform on April 1, 2009 and went on in the new Shropshire Unitary Authority .
