Borussia Kalk (officially: Sportclub Borussia 05 Köln-Kalk eV ) is a sports club from the Kalk district of Cologne . The first soccer team played for three years in the highest amateur league in the Middle Rhine region.

history

The association was founded in August 1905. At first, Borussia was a "wild club" before it was accepted into the West German Game Association on January 12, 1907 . In 1920 Borussia was renamed Club for Youth and People's Games 05 Cologne , where it was simply called Jugend Kalk in the vernacular . Seven years later, Jugend Kalk made it to the 1st district class on the Rhine , the top division at the time. As the bottom of the table , the direct relegation followed. The highlight of the season was a 1-0 away win at Alemannia Aachen . It was not until 1947 that the club returned to its current name and five years later made it to the district class. In 1954 he was promoted to the state league , the highest amateur league on the Middle Rhine at the time. After two years, relegation followed as bottom of the table.

After many years in the district class, he returned to the national league in 1974, followed by relegation three years later. In 1981 Borussia rose again to the state league, in which the team was runner-up behind SC Schwarz-Weiß Köln straight away . Nevertheless, the relegation followed in 1984 before the club ushered in a new era of success with the resurgence in 1989. After runners-up in 1991 and 1993 behind FC Pesch and Winfriedia Mülheim , he was promoted to the Mittelrhein Association League in 1994 . Relegation was missed, however. After three relegations in a row, Borussia played in the district league A in 1997 and returned to the district league in 2007. From there, the team relegated to the district league A in 2009 and said goodbye to the district league B two years later. After relegation in 2014, Borussia Kalk played in the district league C. For the 2017/18 season, Thomas Wirotius took over the team and went straight into the season in the district league B, in the following season with the 2nd place in the table the promotion to the district league A could be made clear. Borussia has been playing in this since the 2019/20 season.
