Bosiliack Entrance Grave

The Entrance Grave of Bosiliack (also Bosiliak) is located in a heathland about four kilometers northwest of Penzance in Cornwall in England , 500 m north of the Lanyon Quoit and about 1000 m southeast of the Mên-an-Tol complex . Entrance tombs are megalithic systems from the late Neolithic and can only be found on the Channel and Isles of Scilly (79) and on the extreme tip of Cornwall (14) in England.

The oval round hill of the Entrance Grave, half of which is unusually compact, is around 5.0 m × 4.5 m in diameter, although the lack of original curbs on the other half of the circumference makes this imprecise. The cairn material consists of head-sized stones and is held in place by large curb stones. The upper part of the hill was removed down to capstone level. The cap stones are missing or have been moved.

The chamber opening is in the southeast. The side stones of the entrance have unusually flat surfaces and form an opening without a constriction. A small worked stone between them could have been used as a symbolic “blocking stone” to close the chamber. The chamber consists of plates that are separated by a narrow end stone. It is nominally straight, but the side panels are slightly offset from one another, which means that the floor plan forms an "S" shape. This shape corresponds to type C according to Glyn Daniel (1914–1986). The chamber is much narrower than that of other Entrance Graves. The axis of the chamber is off-center, as it is atypical for entrance graves. The chamber ends about three feet from the edge of the curbs. It was probably roofed with flat stones. A large slab resting on top of the cairn material could be an offset capstone.

The condition of the complex shows that it was excavated and restored years ago, but there is no record of it.
