Glyn Daniel

Glyn Edmund Daniel (born April 23, 1914 in Barry , Wales , † December 13, 1986 ) was a British archaeologist .

Life

Born and raised in South Wales, Daniel studied geology at Cardiff University before studying archeology and anthropology at St John's College in Cambridge from 1932, where he taught after graduating.

From 1974 to 1981 Daniel Disney was Professor of Archeology at Cambridge University , making it one of the most prestigious chairs in this field. He was also the editor of Antiquity magazine from 1958 to 1985 . In 1982 he was elected a member ( Fellow ) of the British Academy .

His research area was in particular the European Neolithic ; However, special achievements are in the area of aerial archeology , especially in the processing and presentation of the archaeological research history. Daniel was also involved in communicating archeology to a broad public. He is the author or editor of many popular science publications and series that have also been translated into German. He wrote detective novels under the pseudonym Dilwyn Rees .
