Botovo is a settlement in the Croatian town of Drnje ( Koprivnica-Križevci County ).

Archaeological finds show that Botovo was settled in the late Bronze Age. The place was founded in the late 17th century and first mentioned in 1694. In the 18th century the village developed, in the 19th century it was flooded and many residents left Botovo. The first wooden bridge over the nearby river Drau was built in 1814, but it was swept away by the floods in 1827 during a flood. In 1857 Botovo had 366 inhabitants, in 1910 it had 444 inhabitants. After administrative shifts, the village was re-established in 1993 and in 2001 had 319 inhabitants.

The road to Hungary runs through Botovo ; Botovo station is on the Dugo Selo – Gyékényes railway line , which has been in operation since 1870.

During the refugee crisis in Europe from 2015 onwards, Botovo was for a time the “last loophole” on the Hungarian border, where refugees continued to travel to Austria without being regularly registered. Botovo was the original location of the Swiss film Be aware and share (2016).
