Bottega Verde srl is an Italian family business in the field of natural cosmetics based in Pienza in Tuscany. It develops and produces cosmetic and personal care products, perfumes and nutritional supplements , which are sold in its own stores in Italy and Switzerland and online.
history
The company was founded in 1972 as a herbal and health food store in Palazzo Massaini to process the regional plants of Tuscany such as oats, lavender, red grapes and olives into natural products. In 1992 sales were expanded to include mail order .
From 1996 the company began to build a nationwide network of branches and thus developed into one of the largest cosmetic chains in Italy. In 2006 Bottega Verde generated sales of 140 million euros. In 2017, direct sales began in Switzerland through a specially founded subsidiary.
Bottega Verde operates over 400 stores in Italy, slightly more than half of which are run by franchising partners, as well as concept stores worldwide. In addition to its own branch network, Bottega Verde sells successfully via its online shop and was awarded the Italian TelComm eCommerce prize in 2018.
The company's own research and development laboratory is located in Biella .
