Bowen is a small impact crater southwest of the Montes Haemus , on the edge of a small mare called Lacus Doloris . It differs from the other, mostly bowl-shaped, small craters by its relatively flat inner floor. Bowen was known as Manilius A before it was renamed by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 1973 . The Manilius crater lies to the south, on the opposite bank of the Lacus Doloris .
