The Bowron River is a left tributary of the Fraser River in the Canadian province of British Columbia .

The Baron River rises in the center of Bowron Lake Provincial Park on the northeast flank of Mount Foreman west of Isaac Lake . It initially flows west and flows through Bowron Lake north. It then continues its course in a north-westerly direction through the Interior Plateau . It flows west past Purden Lake , the drain of which flows into it. There the Yellowhead Highway ( British Columbia Highway 16 ) crosses the river. Shortly thereafter, the Bowron River turns northeast and flows into the Fraser River after 200 km across from McGregor . The river drains an area of ​​around 3550 km². The mean discharge below the Box Canyon is 65 m³ / s.
