Boyd van Hoeij

Boyd van Hoeij is a Dutch film journalist and book author.

Life

Boyd van Hoeij worked as a freelance film critic for Variety from 2008 to 2012 , then for the Hollywood Reporter . He also writes for a number of other film magazines, such as the queer Dutch lifestyle magazine Winq and De Filmkrant , but also for IndieWire and the online film magazine Cineuropa .

He is jointly responsible for the program selection of the Luxembourg City Film Festival and President of the selection committee of the Luxembourg Film Fund. He also gives courses in film review writing.

Van Hoeij has been a member of the jury at international film festivals in the past, including the Thessaloniki Documentary Film Festival in 2012 and the Palm Springs International Film Festival , the Göteborg International Film Festival in 2014 and the Munich Film Festival in 2016 .

He is a member of the Online Film Critics Society and also a FIPRESCI member. He has also published 10/10 on ten French-speaking Belgian directors and has been artistic advisor to the Luxembourg City Film Festival, with which he has been closely associated for years, since 2020.

Van Hoeij was born in the Netherlands and has lived in Luxembourg since the turn of the millennium.
