Boys (Summertime Love) is a 1987 song by Sabrina written by M. Bonsanto, R. Rossi, C. Cecchetto, M. Charlton, and A. Gill. It appeared on the album Sabrina .
history
The Italo-Disco - Synthpop title, which is also assigned to the Hi-NRG , was released in July 1987 as the third single from their debut album and became a commercial success in Europe. The song became a number one hit in Switzerland, France and Italy. In Germany, the UK, Austria and many other European countries, the song became a top ten hit.
It was also the first song Sabrina released in the UK. In France it was the first song by an artist from Italy to reach number one on the charts. In France, the single reached the 29th place among the best-selling singles of all time, with over 683,000 units sold. Later two more versions were released in France, Boys '95 (1995) and Boys Boys Boys (The Dance Remixes) (2003). In addition, the song was honored with a gold record in France and Germany. Due to the success, Boys developed into one of the most successful and popular Italian disco titles. At that time, the success of the single was compared with the successes of the pin-up girls Lova Moor and Samantha Fox (with whom Sabrina Salerno is friends).
Music video
The music video was shot at the Florida Hotel in Jesolo ( Veneto , Italy ). In the video, Sabrina swims in a pool in hot summer weather. Due to its freedom of movement, it contributed to the success of the song, even if - or precisely because - it was banned in some countries, including the United Kingdom. The music video later became a widely downloaded clip on the internet .
In an interview with Nino Firetto on the Super Channel's Music Box program in late 1988, Sabrina stated that the music video for boys was originally intended for a segment on a magazine show. The style of the music video was specifically tailored to the segment of the show, making it more revealing than ordinary music videos.
