The Bräundlstein is a large erratic block ( boulder ) made of mica schist in the municipality of Babensham , district of Rosenheim .

It has a size of around 4.50 × 4.50 × 3.50 m, but was even larger in the past until it was approved as a material for building houses in the 19th century.

Say

There are several legends about the Bräundlstein :

The most famous of these tells of a stable thief who passed the stone while herding her cows. The devil is said to have sat on this, forcing them to put horse manure in their pockets. After the girl ran home, the crap turned into pure gold, which made her rich but only brought her bad luck.

You can still see some hollows in which the horse manure is said to have been located, and there used to be a channel in the stone that the devil's hot tail is said to have burned into the stone. But it can no longer be seen today.

Geotope

The boulder is designated as an important geotope by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (geotope number: 187R006).
