The Brúarjökull is the largest outlet glaciers of the largest Icelandic Plauteaugletschers, the Vatnajökull . It is located in the northeast of Vatnajökull, east of Kverkfjöll and west of Eyjabakkajökull . The glacier is over 30 km wide. The glacier feeds large rivers such as the Kreppa and the Jökulsá á Brú . The latter is dammed in the Hálslón to a length of 25 km for the Kárahnjúka hydropower plant .
