Bridge cranes are cranes that are typically permanently installed in machine houses , production and assembly halls . They consist of one or two box girders, the bridge , which can be moved sideways. Along the span of the bridge runs a trolley with winch , over a pulley , the support means (usually a hook can discharge or pull).

  • The gantry crane is technically similar , but its running rails are not high, but at ground level.
