Bridge crane
Bridge cranes are cranes that are typically permanently installed in machine houses , production and assembly halls . They consist of one or two box girders, the bridge , which can be moved sideways. Along the span of the bridge runs a trolley with winch , over a pulley , the support means (usually a hook can discharge or pull).

- The gantry crane is technically similar , but its running rails are not high, but at ground level.
- The semi- portal crane is a hybrid form of bridge crane and gantry crane . It has a raised rail on one side and a support like a gantry crane on the other.
- The stacker crane does not carry a winch under the trolley, but a forklift mast . It is a storage and retrieval system designed for logistics tasks .
