The Brabant (also Belgian Draft , Flemings or Flemish horse is) a cold blood -Pferderasse from the Belgian breeding area Brabant .

Exterior

The powerful workhorses have a Height cm of about 165-173. The majority are red, brown and blue permanent mold, but brown, dark brown, dun and mold also occur.

The Brabanter has a well-proportioned head on a short, heavy neck with a double mane and a strong, long shoulder and a deep, broad chest. The low withers merges into a short, wide, mostly saddled back with muscular kidneys and a wide, long, split, often sloping croup with excellent muscles. The short to medium-length, muscular legs with strong hangings stand on often disproportionately small, flat hooves. He reaches a size of 155 to 177 cm and a body mass of 700 to 1,200 kg.

The Brabant is considered to be extremely calm and gentle. He is one of the strongest draft horses, and in addition to his strength he can also convince with a very expansive step. It is also considered to be precocious and long-lived.

The Brabant can be seen as the most important cold-blooded breed, as it was used as the starting point for many other very successful cold-blooded horses, such as the Rhenish-German cold blood . Its origin is believed to be in Roman times, which also makes it one of the oldest horse breeds. A pedigree was established 1886th Towards the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the Belgian draft horses were exported all over the world and from then on were often used for processing. The horse breed had a remarkable influence on other cold blood breeds around the world.
