Bracht handle

The Bracht handle , also known as the Bracht manual aid , is an obstetrics technique. This was developed by the gynecologist Erich Bracht around 1935.

With the manual help according to Bracht, the child is born from the breech position. The obstetrician first waits for the tailbone and trunk to be born to the lower edge of the shoulder blades. Then the rump is grasped with both hands and guided upwards. The child is gently led "over the mother's stomach" upwards until the head follows by itself.

If there are difficulties, the manual arm release or the Veit-Smellie handle is carried out . This was developed by the gynecologists Gustav Veit and William S. Smellie .
