The multi-stemmed Brachycereus nesioticus forms dense cushions that reach a circumference of 2 meters. The more or less upright, cylindrical, sealed by mandrels wrapped drives have a growth height of 10 to 50 centimeters with a diameter of 3 to 5 centimeters. Its 16 to 22 ribs are low. The approximately 40 uneven, radiant, stiff to slightly flexible spines are yellowish and darken with age. The thorns are 0.5 to 5 inches long.

The cream-white, narrow-funneled flowers open during the day, are 6 to 11 centimeters long and have a diameter between 2 and 5.5 centimeters. The pericarpel is covered with numerous thorny areoles and small scales. The dark, fleshy fruits with permanent flower remnants are 1.5 to 3.5 centimeters long and between 1 and 1.4 centimeters in diameter. They contain brownish black, round to egg-shaped seeds 1 to 1.5 millimeters in diameter.

Brachycereus nesioticus is widespread on the islands of Isla Bartolomé , Isla Fernandina , Isla Genovesa , Isla Isabela , Isla Pinta and Isla San Salvador in the Galápagos Archipelago , where it grows on barren lava surfaces. The genus was established in 1920 by Britton and Rose . The first description of the species as Cereus nesioticus by Karl Moritz Schumann was published in 1902. Curt Backeberg placed them in the genus Brachycereus in 1936 .
