Brain Dead is an Italian thrash metal band from Ivrea that was formed in 2000.

history

The band was founded in May 2000 by the singer Felix Liuni and the guitarist Daniele Vitello. A short time later the line-up was supplemented by bassist Haron Zorzi and drummer Daniel Giovanetto. Brain Dead was named after the Exodus song of the same name . A first demo was released in September 2001 under the name Rage of Thrash , which Double Face joined in March 2003 . The group won a national competition which enabled them to participate in the Gods of Metal Festival . In November 2008 she signed a recording deal with Punishment 18 Records , which in 2009 released the album In the Deep of Vortex . The band took part in the Hellbrigade Festival and the Zone Festival in Tavagnasco in the same year . After playing at the Metal Thrashing Mad Festival , the band began work on their second album. In summer 2012, Davide Ricca replaced the guitarist Danilo Bonuso, after which Ricca worked on the new songs. In April of the following year, Zorzi left the cast for personal reasons, whose seat was occupied again in May with Alberto Rossetti. The album was then recorded with producer Carlo "Fajo" Girardi . The sound carrier was released in 2013 with the title Menance from the Sickness on Punishment 18 Records.

style

Reini from stormbringer.at assigned the band to Thrash Metal in his review of In the Deep of Vortex and noted that the album does not differ stylistically from the two previous demos. The group is based on old-school thrash metal, which they mostly play in the medium speed range with a strong focus on the groove . This gave the songs a lethargic character, whereby the songs would be very similar, which is also caused by the sonorous singing. Reinier de Vries of powerofmetal.dk found in his review of Menance from the Sickness that the group of thrash metal bands from the San Francisco Bay Area , especially Exodus, had been influenced. The beginning of the song Another Way also shows strong traits from Metallicas For Whom the Bell Tolls .
