Lew Adolfowitsch Ozerov ( Russian Лев Адольфович Озеров ;. Scientific transliteration Lev Ozerov Adol'fovič ; actually Lew Eisikowitsch Goldberg (Leo Aizikovich Goldberg / L. Ajsikovič Gol'dberg); born in 1914 in Kiev ,. Died in 1996 in Moscow ) was a Soviet - Ukrainian writer, translator and critic.

Live and act

Lev Oserow first studied Russian and Ukrainian philology in Kiev and then philology at the Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History (MIFLI). During the war he was the military correspondent for the army newspaper The Victory for Us (Pobeda sa nami / Победа за нами). He later taught at the Maxim Gorki Literature Institute .

His poem Babi Yar ( Бабий Яр ), which is dedicated to the Holocaust of the Jewish people, was published in 1946. A collection of his poetry from 1931 to 1966 ( Lirika 1931-1966 ) was published in Moscow in 1966.

In the black book on the Holocaust and the crimes of the Wehrmacht in the Soviet Union , he prepared the contribution “Kiev; Babi Yar ”for printing. It is the opening contribution of this work.

Oserow dealt with the Russian literature of the 19th and 20th centuries.

He has published a large number of translations, mainly from Ukrainian ( Taras Shevchenko and others), Lithuanian (Kazis Boruta, Antanas Venclova , Eduardas Mieželaitis and others), Yiddish (Samuil Salmanowitsch Galkin and others) and from other languages ​​of the USSR .

He wrote books and articles on Russian and Ukrainian poetry, including by Fyodor Ivanovich Tjuttschew , Afanassi Afanassjewitsch Fet , Boris Pasternak , Anna Akhmatova , Nikolai Alexejewitsch Sabolotski and others. He worked to preserve the artistic legacy of his generation of poets, for those who died in the war or in the following years under Stalin's repression, or those who simply died early (including Ilya Lwowitsch Selwinski, Alexander Sergejewitsch Kotschetkow, Dmitri Kedrin, Georgi Nikolajewitsch Obolduijew). His article "Poems by Anna Akhmatova", published on June 23, 1959 in the Literaturnaja Gazeta ("literary newspaper "), is the first evaluation of her poems after years of silence.

He is buried in the Wostryakovo cemetery in Moscow .
