Braintree is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the eponymous town of Braintree in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . It provides access to the Red Line subway line and to the MBTA Commuter Rail commuter trains . The station is the southern terminus of the Red Line and a through station for the Commuter Rail lines of the Old Colony Lines .
history
The station opened on March 22, 1980 for the Red Line . Since the reopening of the Old Colony Lines on September 26, 1997, the station has also been used by trains on these lines.

The underground station has a total of four tracks, two of which are available for the Red Line and two for the Commuter Rail trains. They are each accessible via central platforms .

There is a connection to two MBTA bus lines at the station. There are also 1,281 park and ride parking spaces available for a fee.
