Branda Miller

Branda Miller (* 1952 ) is an American video artist .

Miller received a bachelor's degree from Pomona College and a master's degree in film and television at New York University . Branda Miller is Professor of Media Art at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute .

Branda Miller is known for videos that deal with social issues and present them in an experimental form. Since 1987, Miller has focused on issues such as teenage pregnancy, outsiderhood, crime, prison experiences, drugs, and AIDS.

The video LA Nickel (1983, 8:33 min, color, sound) was shown in 1987 at documenta 8 in Kassel. Branda Miller's works can be seen at international exhibitions and festivals: Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston ; Whitney Museum of American Art , New York; documenta 8, Kassel; World Wide Video Festival, The Hague; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles ; Videonale , Bonn and Stedelijk Museum , Amsterdam.

Miller has received numerous awards for her work, including the National Endowment for the Arts and an Emmy for Best Film Editing .
