Brandon Thomas (Actor)
Walter Brandon Thomas (born December 24, 1850 in Liverpool , Great Britain , † June 19, 1914 in London ) was a trained ship carpenter , actor , author and screenwriter .
Life
Brandon Thomas came from a poor background and worked as a shipyard worker from an early age . First he became a ship carpenter and began to study shipbuilding and mechanical engineering . But then he went to London against his father's wishes to become an actor.
From 1870 he worked as a performer, writer of a good dozen plays and writer of revues . In 1879 he joined the London Hare / Dale Company. His only popular play is the 1892 travesty comedy Charley's Aunt . It is still performed today and made him rich and independent even then.
