Branko Lazarević ( Serbian - Cyrillic Бранко Лазаревић , born May 14, 1984 in Gračanica ) is a Serbian football player .

Career

Lazarević was accepted into the first team of the Serbian first division club FK Vojvodina Novi Sad in 2002 as an 18-year-old . After he had already been used regularly for the team during his first season, he became a regular player in the second season. This helped him to a place in the Serbian U-21 selection as well as to participate in the 2004 Olympic Games , where he played two games and finished 16th and last with Serbia and Montenegro. Within the club he lost his regular place a year later and moved to the second division club FK ČSK Pivara during the winter break in 2005/06 . There he was one of the top performers for a year and a half, which enabled him to return to the top division in the summer of 2007 when he signed with OFK Belgrade . He also made regular appearances in the Serbian capital, even if he was not an undisputed regular player.

When Lazarević's contract in Belgrade expired in the summer of 2010, several European clubs showed interest in him. He decided to move to the French first division club SM Caen . For this he made his debut in the league when he played the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against AJ Auxerre on matchday 5 and played four more games by the end of the season. From then on he suffered several long-lasting injuries and was not once on the field for the first team when Caen suffered relegation to the second division in the 2011/12 season. In the following season, he also did not play with the professionals, so his contract was not extended in the summer of 2013. The then 29-year-old decided to end his career.
