Brant Bailey

Brant Bailey (born July 20, 1977 in Wisconsin Dells ) is a former American basketball player who was a professional under contract with several clubs in Europe, including Bayer Leverkusen in the basketball league .

Career

Baileys played from 1996 to 2000 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the third NCAA division. During this time he scored 1,506 points and was fifth on the team's eternal basketball list when he left college. Following the 1999/2000 game year, he was elected Team of the Year at NCAA 3 and named Player of the Year at Conference WIAC. In 2013, the 6-foot-tall winger was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Hall of Fame.

He embarked on a professional career, playing for the British club Birmingham Bullets from 2000 to 2002 , followed by stints in Poland , the Netherlands and Belgium . In the 2004/05 season he was back in his home country and wore the colors of Rockford Lightning in the CBA league. Bailey was in the following years with clubs in Venezuela , New Zealand and again Poland under contract, from February 2006 he was back in the service of Rockford Lightning.

In the 2006/07 season, Bailey, known for his hard work in training, moved to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen . There he scored an average of 5.9 points in a total of 20 missions and also secured 2.2 rebounds for his team. In October 2007 he extended his contract for one year. In the 2007/08 season he increased his yield significantly and scored an average of 12.9 points in 36 Bundesliga games for the Rhinelander. When Nate Fox and then Eric Taylor were fired one after the other , Bailey's star in the playoff quarter-finals against the Skyliners Frankfurt finally rose. He scored 18.2 points per game and kept the Leverkusen team in the race for the next round. The Giants were eliminated after five games (2: 3 for Frankfurt). After the Bayer team announced their move to Düsseldorf, he followed the call of his coach Achim Kuczmann and moved to the newly formed Düsseldorf Giants . In the 2008/09 season, Bailey came in 30 games to an average of 11.6 points per encounter and secured 4.0 rebounds per game. The Düsseldorfer were able to secure the league stay in their first season in the basketball Bundesliga, Brant Bailey extended his contract by a year. The 2009/10 game round was anything but successful for Bailey. He injured himself and was only able to play 24 games (10.4 points per game). At the end of the season, the Düsseldorf Giants were relegated to the second division and were only able to keep the class with a wildcard . Bailey's Bundesliga career ended this season after a total of 110 Bundesliga games.

He was drawn to the Finnish first division, where he was under contract with Lappeenranta NMKY in the 2010/11 season , before moving to Tampereen Pyrintö in the same division in 2011 . The next change followed in November 2011: He joined Namika Lahti (also a Finnish first division team).

In November 2012, at the age of 35, Bailey was selected by the Reno Bighorns in the draft process of the NBA Development League (fifth round in fifth place). Three weeks later he was released again by those responsible for the association. He moved to the NBL Canadian League in November 2012 and played for the Halifax Rainmen. He was used there in 11 encounters (7.2 pps). In January 2013 he was removed from the squad.

In the summer of 2013, Bailey ended his professional career and then worked temporarily as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He then worked as a fitness trainer and health advisor.
