Information board on the history of the brewery

The Motte-Cordonnier brewery and malt house in Armentières , a French town in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region , was built in 1922/23. The building at 14 rue Pierre Brossolette and rue Roger-Salengro was added to the list of architectural monuments in France in 1999 as Monument historique .

The former brewery and malt house was rebuilt on the outskirts after the destruction of the old brewery in the city center during the First World War according to plans by the architect Marcel Forest. The towering water tower , which was combined with a central staircase, serves as the symmetry axis of the brick building .

The malt house ceased operations in 1965, and the brewing operations continued until 1993. The company Stella Artois since then uses the building complex as a bottling plant and warehouse.
