The brewery tower is a building in Darmstadt .
History and description
The brewery tower was built around 1903 as a "brewing tower". The four-storey , tower-like industrial building was built in the style of the late Wilhelminian era .
Typical details are:
- elaborate, two-tone brick facade
- emphasized vertical structure with red pilaster strips
- the horizontal facade is framed by a differentiated cornice
- the building has a final parapet at the top
The brewery tower is the only surviving above-ground structure of the formerly important brewery industry on the north side of the Mathildenhöhe .
Monument protection
Today the brewery tower is used for residential purposes. For architectural, industrial and urban history reasons, the building is considered a cultural monument .
